Trouble Right Here by Nate Gross
CAPO 2
C
Well he was raised in the back country, off Montana two three six
F
Eighty mile stretch of byway, they call it the Missouri Breaks
C
His poppa was a cowboy, like his great grand dad before him
F                                                              G
And his four times great grandpa Buck, fought in the Civil War.

Now twenty years old and feeling strong,  took a pledge to change the world
Recruiting stand in Jackson Hole, he watched our flag unfurl
Was so proud that day, and for men before,  knowing that the fight was right
Two months later, dropped him off in Iraq, middle of the night.

Chorus:
              F                               G                          C                          G
He said: Where's that joy and freedom, like it's supposed to be?
F                     G                  C                       G
Where are the happy faces, smiling back at me?
           F                    G    C                         G
Do we really want to be policing a foreign land
          F                     G                 C                  G     F            G
When we don't even know who's crossing the Rio Grande?
                                      C
We've got trouble right here.

Twelfth day there two buddies were lost in the wreckage of their Hum Vee
Working to make things safe but couldn't tell friend from enemy
On his eighteenth day they crossed a bridge,  trying to outrun a roadside bomb
Saw his searg air lifted away, missing his left eye and arm.

In December he took a hit, blew off a couple of toes
Lucky man, he left that soil,  so excited to come back home
Laying around in a room at Walter Reed, he flicked on the TV
There they were on the White House lawn, laughing and lighting the tree.

Chorus
Bridge:
G
He dreamed he was a little child
F
Drinking from a stream
G
He dreamed he was an old man
F
Remembering what he'd seen

Twenty five years old, he's toured the world,  done his part for freedom
Salutes the flag on the fourth of July,  but questioning the meaning
Settles down in Idaho Springs,  there'll be wife and kids and Little League
But is this how great Grandpa Buck thought America would be?

Chorus
